Multiple Parent Navigator Positions

Available Locations: Harlem, Bronx and Manhattan

Start Date: Immediate

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resourceful Parent Navigator to serve as a vital link between families, schools, and community-based supports. In this role, the Parent Navigator will empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge, tools, and guidance needed to effectively advocate for their children’s academic, social, and emotional success.

This position plays a critical role in supporting at-risk students with special needs by fostering strong family engagement, connecting families to essential resources, and ensuring they feel informed, confident, and supported throughout their child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for families, providing guidance on school processes, programs, and services
  • Support parents in understanding educational systems, including special education, intervention services, and student support programs
  • Facilitate communication between families, school staff, and external service providers
  • Connect families to community-based resources (healthcare, housing, counseling, etc.)
  • Organize and lead parent workshops, trainings, and engagement events
  • Assist families in navigating challenges related to attendance, behavior, and academic progress
  • Maintain accurate documentation of family interactions and services provided
  • Advocate for equitable access to resources and services for all families

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with families, schools, or community organizations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse populations
  • Bilingual skills preferred (if applicable)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of special education processes and student support services
  • Experience facilitating workshops or group sessions
  • Familiarity with local community resources and support networks
