Role Description

The Assistant Principal 2 is an instructional and operational leader within the school community and is critical to improving student outcomes through staff development and effectiveness. In collaboration with and aligned with the direction of the Head of School and Assistant Principal 1, Assistant Principal 2 supports the culture of student learning and engagement among staff. The Assistant Principal 2 is a pivotal K–12 support role that blends instructional coaching with curriculum leadership to ensure academic success for all students with autism and related learning differences. This dual-role position supports teachers in implementing evidence-based instructional practices and ensures the alignment, accessibility, and effectiveness of curriculum materials across all subject areas and grade levels. The AP-2 partners with teachers through regular coaching cycles, providing modeling, co-teaching, and feedback, while also overseeing the review, selection, and customization of curriculum resources. The goal is to improve instructional quality and foster student achievement in a highly individualized, standards-based environment.

Qualifications

  • Leadership and Administrative Skills: Experience in school administration, staff supervision, and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Education and Teaching Expertise: Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and curriculum development for K–12 students.
  • Special Education Knowledge: Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders, neurodiversity, and inclusive education strategies.
  • Interpersonal and Collaboration Skills: Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, caregivers, and external partners.
  • Qualifications: Master’s degree in Education, School Administration, or a related field, along with a valid state administrative or teaching certification.
  • Preferred Experience: Background in special education, familiarity with therapeutic approaches (e.g., speech, occupational, or behavioral therapies).
