Summary

The Assistant Operations Manager – Housekeeping will support the oversight of any area in the Rooms Division with a focus in the Housekeeping Department. The role will assist in the oversight of the entire housekeeping area, including public areas and night cleaning. The candidate must have a solid understanding of housekeeping and laundry supplies and procedures, and ensure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed. Experience with turndown service, special needs of VIP guests is helpful. Responsibilities may also include staff training, development and scheduling. The individual will promote an atmosphere that ensures customer and associate satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Executive Housekeeper.

  • Ensure and maintain cleanliness, service and product quality standards of guest rooms, public spaces, restrooms, offices and banquet/meeting/conference rooms in accordance with federal, local and company health, sanitation and safety standards.
  • Lead, direct and administer Housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, systems use and management, inventory control, employee relations management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement, and meeting participation and facilitation.
  • Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with our Hotel's policies, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Interview, hire and train employees; plan, schedule, assign and direct work; evaluate performance; conduct counseling and evaluations, deliver recognition and reward, discipline employees; provide professional development, address complaints and solve problems.
  • Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing training for colleagues and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with federal, state and local company regulations.
  • Participate in the coordination of rehabilitation and capital improvement projects in partnership with the Director of Engineering and other departments.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned by Executive Housekeeper or Director of Rooms.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Rooms leadership experience preferred.
  • Service-oriented style with professional presentation skills.
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, and ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills.
